Honoring Their Service, Securing Their Future
Our mission is to alleviate homelessness among military veterans in Georgia through emergency shelter, transitional housing, and comprehensive support services. Your support brings critical services to veterans who need them most.
Bringing Solutions Closer to Home
Serving those who served our country with dignity, respect, and a clear path to stability.
Who We Are
Veterans Community Shelter, Corp. (VCS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, established in 2022 and based in Georgia. Veterans Community Shelter was established to respond to the critical need for local housing and coordinated support for military veterans.
We have been developing our programs, building community partnerships, and establishing the infrastructure needed to deliver effective services. VCS is actively pursuing grants and community support to expand our capacity and impact.
With clear systems for leadership, financial oversight, and program delivery, we are positioned to become a leading nonprofit dedicated exclusively to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The Need
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (2024), 32,882 veterans in Georgia experienced homelessness. Henry County is home to more than 17,990 veterans — yet has no veteran-specific emergency shelter or transitional housing beds.
Suburban and rural counties are seeing a higher share of unsheltered veterans because housing and programs are concentrated in the metro core.
Our Guiding Principle
Housing First — We provide housing immediately, without prerequisites, as the essential first step toward addressing other challenges.
